Studying for my CCNA
Somehow a few months ago I got it in my head that I would get my Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. My roommate Adam bought me Network Warrior for Christmas, then I bought (and expensed) CCNA Exam Cram (Third Edition).
The CCNA Exam Cram one has more information directly related to the test, but it's dry and boring and nearly impossible to read. I think I'm about 60 pages in- out of about 560. And the book doesn't even start until page 16.
Network Warrior is definantly an easier read. Examples are good and the information is valuable. Unfortunantly it discusses a lot of things that probably won't be on the CCNA test. I'm only about 80 pages into it, but decided that I should put it down to focus on the other one for a while.
What I should probably do is read the two books in parallel. Read a chapter on spanning tree in one, then find and read the chapter on spanning tree in the other and so on. Unfortunantly, that requires a little too much organization for me.
I haven't scheduled the test yet. Half of me feels like I should, just to give myself some pressure to get through these books, but the other half of me is actually a little nervous and wants to put off taking the test as long as possible.
I'm going to try and do it before the end of summer though. I figure that goal gives me 6 months which should be plenty of time.
