Dirty Vegas

Most of you probably are familiar with the group Dirty Vegas, or at least their song "Days Go By". Well, recently they came to San Francisco to play at Ruby Skye and my friend Anthony somehow knows the lead singer, Steve. As a result, Anthony managed to score us, not only guest passes, but on stage passes!
Not only did this allow us to bypass the huge line and get in for free, but it also gave us on stage access, so while this place was packed shoulder to shoulder, we were spread out quite comfortable on the couch behind the DJ booth.
I tried to take a couple pictures, but the darkness and low quality phone cam didn't give me much to work with. Either way, here we have me on the stage with some go-go dancers behind me:

and a shot of Steve from behind:

It was all pretty amazing, and I gotta say... I liked the feeling of looking down at the "little people". :-p

Monterey Bay Aquarium

A couple months ago, Carrie won some tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and last Sunday, Adam, Carrie, Karly, and I, along with Carries niece went there. It took me a while to post about it since I hadn't had a chance to get the pictures off my cam.

The day (once we finally made it all the way to Monterey) started off with lunch at a british pub called London Bridge:

The Calimari here was the worst I've ever had, but the rest of the food was decent.
After lunch we continued on to the Aquarium where we somehow managed to get in without using our free tickets. The two main attractions at the aquarium right now are the Otters:

And the White Sharks:

Although personally, I prefered the Jelly Fish:

Oh, by the way, I now have a mohawk:

Another attempt

Lately I've been picking up my guitar again with a little more frequency.

I think that it might have been seeing/hearing the song "Hey Julie" by Fountains of Wayne on Scrubs that made me want to start playing again. I took the time to look up the song and realized that I actually knew pretty much all the chords. The slight encouragement of thinking there might actually be a good song that I could play in the here and now was enough to get me to start trying again.

Wonder how long it will be until I give up for another year?

Yet another new game

Adam's birthday, while not super huge, seemed to be fairly successful. There were drinks, a BBQ, drinks, swimming, and drinks followed by the Bel and more drinks. At last count at least 3 people vomited, so you know it had to be good.
In celebration of Adam reaching manhood I decided to buy him/us/me another new game: Bioshock

I played the demo to this and was fairly impressed with the opening. I haven't played the full version much as I still have Metroid to finish, on top of which, I wanted Adam to get first crack at it. Still looking forward to Halo 3 though.

Metroid Prime 3

There are a whole slew of new games coming out that I want. Halo 3 obviously tops the list, but not far below that was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

So far I'm about 17% through the game (or so the game tells me), and I'm quite happy with it. Good story, good controls, good puzzles. My only real complaint is that the game uses a lot of the same map over and over. You have to run to one side of the map to get a key, then to the other side to open a door with that key where you find an explosive which you can use on a rock back where you just came from, etc etc. Makes it hard when you know that you've seen a certain place before and can't tell if you're running in circles or actually going in the right direction.

In other news, it's a three day weekend. Also Adams birthday on the 3rd, so it sounds like we're having a little shindig tomorrow to celebrate.
