Something new for Margie!

Somehow, last night, Paul and I got roped into making a bunch of callbacks to customers with open trouble tickets (a.k.a. POC duties (POC = Point Of Contact)). I really don't enjoy this particular task, but it was made slightly better by the word game that we started playing. Simply put, before each call, we gave each other a word that had to be used in the conversation at some point. I have to concede defeat when Paul used the word "zipper" in the sentence "your T1 is going up and down like a zipper".

Halloween

I think it's pretty much decided that my roommates and me are going to have a huge Halloween party this year. It will most likely be held at my parent’s house as they have far more room then we do. So far we're planning on getting a couple kegs, having a live band, and having a huge BBQ. If anyone is interested, pop your email address into the mailing list and I’ll send you more details as they are available.

Trivial Information

Tonight I measured the distance around our block. It's half a mile.
On a semi-related note, running on a full stomach is really not a good idea (I'm sure some of you people who actually exercise could have told me this, but as you didn’t I was forced to come to this painful realization on my own).

Wise cookie say...

I had Chinese for lunch, and with it I received a fortune cookie which proclaimed “The weather is wonderful”.
I have several issues with this.
In my opinion, this is not a qualifying message for a fortune cookie. It is not a fortune. It’s not even advice. It’s an opinion! The opinion of a cookie (which, I might add, has no way of telling what the weather is)! All things considered, I think my biggest issue with this fortune is that you can’t really add the words “in bed” to the end and still have it make sense.

Outtage

Today at around 10:50:00 an Advanced Telcom fiber was severed in the Albany, OR area. This cut seems to have affected all customers in the 541 area code. This has been an insanely busy day, in fact, this is the first chance I've had to take a breather all morning. At one point we had 72 calls waiting in queue and from what I'm being told, this wont be resolved until 6:00PM. Ugh... should have stayed home :-(

Demotivators II

My Demotivators arrived today! I'm planning on blowing about $60 on frames for them next payday, but until then I get a pretty brown cardboard tube to keep me entertained!

Outfoxed

Steve, Brennain, and Dave rented Outfoxed last night. I doubt anyone could honestly say that fox news isn't slanted, but the degree to which this is the case, based on this documentary, was rather upsetting. I won't go into too many details here, because I know I couldn't do as good a job as the documentary did, but I highly recommend watching it.

Armstrong Woods

I went camping last night with Ben, Steve, Nick, and Paul. Due to the dry summer and high fire danger, we were not permitted a camp fire. This was a fairly large disappointment, and as if to rub it in our faces, it started to rain in the middle of the night.
My back is a little sore, and I barely slept, but it was good to have a night out with the boys.

Does clothing make the man?

Tonight I finally got around to uploading some new kiss pictures, and as I was looking at them I came to a shocking realization... I'm wearing the same shirt in all of them! Apparently this is a lucky shirt, and I didn't even know it!
I bet Nick regrets giving it to me now!

Pirates!

Apparently the 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate day... I feel some really bad pirate jokes coming on...

Q: What's a pirates favorite letter?
A: AArrgh!

Q: What's a pirates second favorite form of transportation?
A: A Caarrgh!

Q: Why did the pirate go on vacation?
A: He needed some aarrgh and aargh!

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel stuck down his pants. The bartender looks at him and asks "Isn't that uncomfortable?"
"Arrrgh," the pirate answers, "it's driving me nuts!"

Demotivators

I just spent over $100 at despair.com. Well, to be honest, only about $20 of that was mine, the rest was from Sam and a couple people in my office who wanted to split the shipping costs. Some of my favorites are Motivation, Mediocrity, and Apathy. Lots of other good ones though, check them out.

Fucking Mondays...

I hate Mondays. So far today I’ve over-slept, discovered a dead battery on my bike, been locked out of my house, spilled boiling water on my arms, and slammed my shin into a desk. On top of this, all my muscles are sore, I’m so exhausted I can barely type, and I have a headache. This does not bode well for the rest of the week.

Spare Time

It's been a slow day at work. Not too many calls, no urgent projects, no tickets to work on… I only wish every day was like this. So far I've put my spare time toward programming some administrative tools for KTN. Nothing particularly exciting, but it should make things a little easier to maintain.

New Domains!

dotster.com is currently giving away free .info domains! There is a 25 limit and so far I'm more then halfway there! Some of my favorites include: nakedrachel.info, clubbingbabyseals.info, and theworldismybitch.info. I have a pretty good idea as to what I’m going to do with the first two, but the last one is slightly more difficult... Any suggestions would be appreciated!

On another note..

Microsoft Word thinks that the sentence "Today I was woken up at 5:45AM by the painters" should be replaced with "Today the painters waked me up at 5:45AM."

Early Morning Woes

Last week we were told that they would be painting our house today. Yesterday we were told that they would be starting between 6:30 and 7:00am. Today I was woken up at 5:45AM by the painters.
I'm not sure how they were painting, as it sure as hell didn't sound like they were using brushes or rollers. In fact, judging by the loud thumps, I would guess paintball guns. Either that or they were just standing on ladders, kicking our walls. Regardless, I’m feeling dead right now. But, on the plus side, our house looks good...

Spam

Can anyone explain spam to me? I used to understand it, back when spam was trying to sell me porn or viagra, but now I'm getting spam that contains nothing but random words. No ads, no links, no brand names... I've looked at the raw text on these things and it's not like I'm missing some embdeded code or anything. Apparently the entire point of these emails is to inform me that "gauss dump cyanic corduroy plan btl logic arching affectionate ciceronian sudden caucasian superior"
